Awards and Recognition
Washington University School of Law specially recognizes students who make significant public service contributions. Each semester, students are eligible to receive recognition of their public service work if they complete a certain number of hours or participate in a substantial service project.
Every spring, the School of Law holds a Public Service Law Celebration for students and supervisors who participated in the Public Service Project, student group leaders, Public Interest Summer Stipend Recipients, and the generous alumni who have helped fund the stipend program. At the Celebration, students who have made significant contributions to public service are recognized and the Public Service Law Student of the Year award and the Public Service Employer of the Year award are presented.
The Public Service Law Student of the Year is nominated by the law school community and awarded to the student who best demonstrates an extraordinary commitment and dedication to serving those most in need. The Public Service Employer of the Year is also nominated by the law school community and is awarded to the employer who has gone "the extra mile" to ensure that students receive great training and mentoring, and the chance get real, hands-on public service experience.
